December 5,2007	China Netcom Group System Integration Limited Corporation entered into the Equity Interest Transfer Agreement with China Netcom Group Beijing Communications Corporation to procure the entire equity interest of Beijing Telecommunications Planning and Designing Institute Corporation Limited. The Acquisition was completed on December 31, 2007
November 27,2007	the Board of Directors of the Company was granted the “Directors of the Year Award 2007 of Hang Seng Index Constituents” by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

November 1, 2006	The Company formally launched “Phone Navigation” business to the public.
September 10, 2006	The Company officialy launched its WAP portal for PHS.
August 2006	the IPTV-based information on services for rural areas in Henan Province was recognised and promoted by the National Reform and Development Commission.
August 22, 2006	the Company completed the disposal of Asia Netcom Corporation Limited (“Asia Netcom”), one of our wholly-owned subsidiaries.
July 2006	the Company was allowed to provide IPTV services in 5 cities — Shenyang, Dalian and Panjin in Liaoning Province and Heihe and Mudanjiang in Heilongjiang Province.
May 26, 2006	“CNC MAX” was formally on board as China’s first all-video portal website, which can provide large stream and high resolution video services.
April 30, 2006	China Netcom Group System Integration Limited Corporation was incorporated as a subsidiary of the Company, to provide integrated information and communications technology services to corporate customers.
March 29, 2006	China Netcom Group Broadband Online Limited Corporation was incorporated as a subsidiary of the Company, dedicating to broadband content and applications.
March 6, 2006	the Company formally became a constituent stock of Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index.

2005

December 7, 2005	China Netcom Group was granted a nationwide Internet Cultural Operating Permit by the Ministry of Culture and intended to expand its chain of cyber café.
November 14, 2005	the Company and Telefónica Internacional S.A. signed a strategic alliance agreement, pursuant to which Telefónica Internacional S.A. seeks to increase its shareholding in the Company and discuss strategic cooperation with the Company in a broad range of fields.
September 12, 2005	the Company signed an acquisition agreement with China Netcom Group to acquire its telecommunication assets and businesses in the provinces and regions of Heilongjiang , Jilin, Neimenggu and Shanxi. The acquisition was approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting held on October 25. Through this acquisition, we will further consolidate our dominance in the northern service region market.
July 26, 2005	China Netcom Group and China Telecom signed an agreement on nationwide IC card roaming, to stimulate the usage of the Company’s IC cards.
July 21, 2005	the Company and Telefónica, S.A. entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with the aim of seeking cooperation in various areas.
May 17, 2005	the Company and its partner jointly launched IPTV services in Heilongjiang Province.
May 16, 2005	China Netcom Group and China Telecommunications Corporation (“China Telecom”) held a joint press conference in Beijing on the launch of PHS handsets with detachable SIM cards, which was expected to promote the development of value-added services, marketing channels and service qualities of the PHS business.
March 31, 2005	China Netcom Group officially launched “CNC MAX” – a new brand for broadband services.

November 17, 2004	Our ordinary shares were first listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

October 11, 2004	China Network Group and China Unicom signed an agreement on "Interconnection and Settlement of Point-to-point Short Messages Between Networks", which formally enabled
September 27, 2004	China Netcom Group and China Telecom held a joint press conference to officially launch "PHS All over China", enabling approximately 60 million PHS users in China to send short messages throughout country between the two networks.
July 22, 2004	China Netcom Group entered into an agreement with Beijing Organization Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, which agreement, upon approval by the International Olympic Committee, would name China Netcom Group as the exclusive fixed-line communications partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
June 2004	Restructuring of China Netcom completed by which China Netcom obtained its assets and business at time of the initial public offering.
April 2004	China Netcom Group obtained the shareholding interest of China Netcom Holdings, and became the holding company of China Netcom Corporation (BVI) Ltd (CNC BVI) and China Netcom Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited. After that, CNC BVI was renamed as China Netcom Group Corporation (BVI) Limited and China Netcom Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited was renamed as China Netcom Group Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited.
March 18, 2004	China Netcom Group was ranked first again in the annual "Customer Satisfaction Survey on Quality of Telecommunications Services in 2003"conducted by the Ministry of Information Industry.

2003

December 2003	China Netcom acquired the remaining 49% interest in Asia Netcom, making Asia Netcom our wholly-owned subsidiary.
May 2003	China Netcom Group acquired Jitong Communications Company Ltd.

2002

October 2002	Asia Netcom was incorporated by us with two other investors. Asia Netcom acquired majority assets and equity of Asia Global Crossing.
May 2002	Pursuant to a PRC government-issued directive to restructure the PRC fixed-line telecommunications industry, China Netcom Group was established to take up the principal fixed-line networks in Beijing and Tianjin Municipalities, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as well as 30% of the bandwidth of the inter-provincial fiber optic networks that were owned by the former China Telecom Group.

2001

February 2001	Our Company got the first investment from CNC Fund, L.P. in the sum of US$325 million.

1999

October 1999	Our Company was established to facilitate investments by foreign investors in CNC China. As a result of a series of transactions, CNC China became our wholly-owned subsidiary.
August 1999	CNC China was set up by China Academy of Sciences, the Information and Network Center of State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, China Railways Telecommunications Center and Shanghai Alliance Investment Limited as a facilities-based telecommunications operator in China.
