• The China-Russia cross-border terrestrial optic cable has become a high-quality route from Europe through China to Hong Kong and other Southeast Asian countries, providing richer choices of communication services to multinational companies.

  TEA. In 2004, China Netcom expanded a set of 10Gb/s SDH terminal multiplexing equipments at its Fuyuan station jointly with Rostelecom in Russia by utilizing its existing 8-F optic cable between Fuyuan and KHABAROVSK, and commissioned a 2.5Gb/s channel with telecom companies in Russia. That improves largely the communication connection capability between Asia and Russia and Europe.
• ERA (Europe Russia Asia).
  In order to improve our competitiveness in international communications between China and Russia, China Netcom signed a memo with TransTeleCom (TTC) in October 2004, started building 2 pairs of 48-F optic cables between Manzhouli and SABAIKAlSK in 2005, and commissioned SDH 2.5Gb/s MPS (1+1) transmission systems, which were completed in 2006. The completion of this terrestrial optic cable has dramatically improved the security and reliability of international communications between China Netcom and Russia.

TPE-Trans-Pacific Express cable system

• TPE, known as Trans-Pacific Express cable system, is initially invested by six telecoms operators -China Netcom , China Telecom and China Unicom, Chunghwa Telecom, Korea Telecom and Verizon Business. It has five landing points : Qingdao(CNC), and Chongming (CT), Tanshui (CHT), Keoje (KT), and Nedonna Beach(VB). The cable, a $500-million investment of the consortium team is 13,000 miles long and will carry 2.56 Tbits/sec.
• The Trans-Pacific Express Cable is the first next-generation undersea optical cable system directly linking the United States and China, and the first major undersea system to land on the U.S. West Coast in more than seven years, TPE will be more than 60 times the overall capacity of the existing cable directly linking the United States and China and, thus, will be a major enhancement to the current cable systems between the two nations. This next-generation undersea system, coupled with CNC’s other undersea and terrestrial cables, will provide multinational customers doing business in Asia with data services that operate at faster speeds with increased reliability and extensive route diversity.
